Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare for application
- Review work order and where required check with appropriate personnel.
- Select appropriate personal protective equipment and check for operational effectiveness.
- Obtain type and quantity of boards and laminate or veneer to be adhered from the production process.
- Select production process in line with work order.
- Apply laminate or veneer
- Use equipment in line with organisational safety procedures, manufacturer’s instructions and environmental protection practices.
- Complete pre start-up equipment checks to ensure operational effectiveness.
- Load and feed veneer or laminate and board in correct sequence to suit planned assembly.
- Adjust spreader stations to deliver material in line with required board cross-section distribution.
- Adjust glue feed, spread and tack level regularly, apply glue to board evenly and ensure board remains free of foreign material.
- Check heat rolling process regularly to prevent creases, bubbles and other surface defects.
- Monitor laminate or veneer routinely for position, adhesion, contamination, finish and trim tolerances.
- Transfer finished panels for further processing in line with organisational procedures.
- Dispose of sub-standard material in line with environmental protection practices.
- Shut down and clean equipment
- Coordinate shutdown with other line operators according to organisational safety procedures.
- Strip, clean and replace gluing equipment, rollers, cauls, screens and handling equipment.
- Check cutters or blades for bluntness or damage; remove and replace in line with manufacturer's recommendations.
- Keep machine clear of dust and debris in line with organisational safety procedures.
- Record and report production outcomes, equipment faults and maintenance requirements to appropriate personnel.
